The way yoga is portrayed on social media you might think you need to have a certain body type to do yoga. But the wisdom of Yogic Philosophy tells us that any body can do yoga. It’s a message we want every new teacher to embrace.
Watch: Yoga Philosophy for Kids Yoga Teachers
Watch this video where Parampreet talks about why every person, no matter what their shape, size or identity, can do yoga.
Learn from the Teacher Who Grew Up in the Culture
Parampreet Singh is a trainer in the 200-Hour Training and teaches Indian Yogic Philosophy. You’ll learn the philosophy from someone who grew up in the culture of Indian wisdom. It will be an opportunity for you to absorb the philosophy in a deeper way.
Take, for instance, the meaning of Purusha and Prakriti. Parampreet explains it here in relation to something I hope every teacher holds as a core belief: that every body can do yoga.
Purusha and Prakriti are imported concepts in the philosophy behind the yoga and you may not have heard them explained quite like this:
Every person, no matter what their shape, size or identity, can do yoga.
This is backed up by Yogic Philosophy and is important for teachers to understand so they can pass on the essence of yoga and not just teach people’s bodies to make shapes.
